| |  Spring 1998, 'Kola finishes university with a degree in Business Administration, leaves Quebec city and moves to Montreal. Summer 1999, 'Kola buys a guitar, writes his first songs and plays them in the streets and parks of Montreal. October 2000, first solo performance at Café Ludik: he accompanies himself with a guitar and a harmonica in a folk style. Many similar shows follow that year, held in downtown Montreal cafés. 2001, 'Kola records his first album: #1. Eight titles carved in a folk style with minimal touches of acoustic instruments express freedom, an introspective point of view and return to simplicity. Songs from #1 are very well received and get played regularly on local indie radio stations. Winter 2001-2002, 'Kola attends open mics of the Montreal English scene. February 2002, he starts his own open mic. 'Kola's open mic and 'Kola's songwriters jam are held several times a week in places as different as Porté Disparu, Missy, Sarajevo, L'Utopik, Café Chaos, L'Ours qui fume, News Room Café and Les Conneries. 2002, 'Kola produces the «Show 'Kola», a performance series bent on showcasing urban folk artists accompanying each other in their songs. He also starts to play outside of Montreal. 2003, 'Kola produces the «Folk-Us On Change», a performance series showcasing committed songwriters. 2008, 'Kola is back... new show December 14 |
